Body Lift

Loose or sagging skin that has lost both its tone or its ability to “snap back” will inevitably need some type of “lift’ procedure. The best exercise regimen and strictest diet cannot make loose skin tight again. Significant weight loss, changes from pregnancy, aging - these are the usual causes when areas of inelastic, wrinkled body skin begin to appear. Once the elasticity is gone, no exercise, no diet, no laser and no “magic cream” will bring it back. Body lifts are commonly performed for the arms, the sides, the abdomen, the thighs and the buttocks. Shape and contour are improved as excess skin is removed and the body is restored to be tighter, firmer and lifted.

The Consultation
You will have a private, in-depth consultation with Dr. Back where he will review with you everything you want and need to know. After an examination, together you will discuss your goals and his recommendations. All the details of the procedure will be reviewed and you will also have ample time for questions. Typical “before & after” photos as examples are on hand as a part of this process.

The Procedure
Most body lift procedures are performed in the operating room, under general anesthesia. Incisions are hidden in natural body creases and shadows. The excess skin is removed and the remaining tissues are tightened and lifted. Liposuction techniques are sometimes incorporated to assist in the recontouring and reshaping process. Multiple body areas can be addressed in one procedure, but most patients opt for keeping it simple (at just one or two) to limit risk and streamline their recovery.

The Recovery
Depending on the extent of the lifting procedure(s), most patients will need 1-2 weeks to recover. Deep support sutures help the newly contoured tissues to heal securely into position. Activity restrictions are released after about 4 weeks.
