Fat Injection Sculpting

Research is demonstrating more and more the value and uses of fat as a natural “filler” in Plastic Surgery. And what great revenge - taking the fat from someplace where it’s “hated” and using it to your benefit someplace else! Your fat can be used for erasing facial wrinkles, plumping lips, restoring full cheeks and helping to “lift” the face. We commonly use fat as a part of the popular “Brazilian Buttock Lift” to enhance and fill out the buttocks and recontour their shape. Fat can also be used to rejuvenate the hands and for the reconstruction of scars and other deformities.

 

The Consultation

You will have a private, in-depth consultation with Dr. Back where he will review with you everything you want and need to know. After an examination, together you will discuss your goals and his recommendations. All the details of the procedure will be reviewed and you will also have ample time for questions. Typical “before & after” photos as examples are on hand as a part of this process.

 

The Procedure

Using liposuction-style techniques, the fat is harvested via tiny nicksin the skin. This may be performed in the office or the operating room depending on the extent of liposuction desired and how the fat is intended to be used. The fat is concentrated and cleaned. Small syringes are then used to inject and sculpt the areas using your own body fat.

 

The Recovery

Fat injection/sculpting can cause significant swelling that can last from days to weeks - patients need to be prepared for this. The fat always undergoes some resorption but extra fat is typically injected to allow for this.  The fat can be slightly hard or even stiff for a few weeks but will typically eventually soften; then it will look and feel like your own normal tissues.
